Here is a list of events we have already hosted and how they address the UN SDG’s:

 

Outdoor Community Sound Healing (Santa Monica)

 

ZERO HUNGER 2 

We gave out over 200 meals free of charge with locally sourced food items

GOOD HEALTH AND WELLBEING 3 

educated public on healthy breathing for nervous system, movement for physical and mental health, created space for neighboring strangers to meet each other and build healthy relationships within the community

QUALITY EDUCATION 4

providing community with education about civic engagement, how to care for the park, and connecting people with local educators and small business educators

REDUCED INEQUALITIES 10

We provided a free event that was accessible to all and included food, resources, and connections to people in the community that want to be of service to those with less financial resources

SUSTAINABLE CITIES & COMMUNITIES 11 

community conversations about innovating for the communities immediate needs and addressing flaws in current infrastructure

DECENT WORK & ECONOMIC GROWTH 8

Provided a free and accessible live, outdoor “chamber of commerce” for local small businesses to share their businesses and let the community sample their products

CLIMATE ACTION 13

cleared park of garbage and debris and taught the attendees about compost and discussed building a public compost in the park

PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS 16

Community shared moments of peace in a public park and invited anyone in the park into the space, regardless of their background of socioeconomic status, discussed ways to bring mental health into the different communities and institutions that attendees are a part of

Summer Soilstice Regenerative Gathering (Elysium Park, LA)

 

ZERO HUNGER 2 

gave out food donated by several local, regeneratively sourced small businesses

GOOD HEALTH & WELLBEING 3 

shared movement exercises for better health, moved body doing garden work, laughed a lot in community building oxytocin dopamine and serotonin

QUALITY EDUCATION 4

taught water management, native plant species that support/mitigate with climate change and fire hazards, education about environmental science

INDUSTRY, INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE 9

We built more community and interest in an augmented game that incentivizes planting more native plants, volunteering with organizations like Tree Plot, and connecting with neighbors in a meaningful way

REDUCED INEQUALITIES 10

We provided a free event that was accessible to all and included food, resources, and connections to people in the community that want to be of service to those with less financial resources

SUSTAINABLE CITIES & COMMUNITIES 11

We created more relationships in the community with grassroots efforts that are making sure no more fires disrupt and harm the community as well as opportunities for people to practice sustainability in an accessible and realistically tangible way

CLIMATE ACTION 13

Attendees learned about native plants that help prevent fires, watered native plants and planted seeds too

LIFE ON LAND 15

Attendees and educators practiced sustainable forest management by planting native plants and trees and watering them so that there is less fire hazard in the area

Provided the community with a space to discuss current events in local government and ways we can address the systemic inequalities by voting locally, attending neighborhood and council meetings, and organizing neighbors around sustainability and safe planting

Soil & Community (West LA)

 

NO POVERTY 1

Several houseless folks joined this project and continue to grow plants and food. Our intention is to support and certify houseless folks who plant and nourish the neighborhood with jobs and references in the urban farming community. 

ZERO HUNGER 2

We planted the seeds for more free, urban gardens that can be supported by local houseless as well as neighborhood citizens. We discussed the power and potential for this urban garden and more to pop up that can provide purpose as well food for local houseless and socioeconomically suffering population

GOOD HEALTH & WELLBEING 3 

Provided exercise and movement while digging out weeds, creating holes for native plants and trees, and dancing during group breakouts

QUALITY EDUCATION 4

Provided local neighborhood with education on which plants are native and local, which plants are great pollinators that can create more local plants to grow and reduce climate degradation, and education around how to support local urban gardens that can grow with or without city regulation

GENDER EQUALITY 5

This event included engagement from several houseless LGBTQ and continues to support their intention to plant free gardens for themselves and their houseless neighbors.

INDUSTRY, INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE 9

We planted literal seeds and created a sustainable and inclusive structure for anyone to continue cultivating the project we started in West LA while kicking off their own around the area.
